Legal Aspects of the Trial of Juvenile Offenders
The Sixth Committee of the United Nations General Assembly, commonly known as “GA6: Legal,” is the primary forum of the United Nations for discussing international law. It brings together all UN member states to examine legal issues, develop international legal frameworks, and promote cooperation in the rule of law.
GA6 works to shape global legal standards, even though its resolutions are not legally binding. Common discussions focus on international justice, treaty law, and the protection of human rights through legal mechanisms.
Under the agenda “Legal Aspects of the Trial of Juvenile Offenders,” the committee addresses fair trial rights, child protection in legal systems, and rehabilitation-oriented justice. Delegates must balance national legal systems with international legal principles and human rights standards.
